World Health warns of a rise in cases of malnutrition among Darfur children


Warned World Health Organization of the increasing cases of Severe malnutrition among Darfur in Sudan, amid the lack of care services and the difficulty of reaching besieged areas.

The organization confirmed that more than 20,000 people are suffering from severe malnutrition requiring specialized medical treatment during the current year, noting that access to these areas constitutes a major obstacle, in light of the continuing conflict and the disruption of main roads, calling for the necessity of opening safe corridors to facilitate urgent access of humanitarian aid to the affected areas.

The organization indicated that the current situation poses a direct threat to the lives of thousands of children, warning of the worsening of the humanitarian crisis if immediate measures are not taken to meet the basic needs of the affected population.
