An explosion on the military contact line between the two Koreas, wounding a soldier


Declared Thursday that a South Korean soldier was injured in an explosion, the causes of which were not clear, on the military contact line separating the two parts of Korea.

The ministry explained in a statement that the explosion occurred on Thursday morning on the western side of the contact line, wounding the officer who was on patrol.

The ministry reported that "The officer was evacuated (…) by helicopter, and his condition is stable and his injuries do not pose a threat to his life".

The explosion comes after Seoul proposed this week to hold military talks with , which is the first initiative of its kind in years.
