المملكة: Human rights in Islamic cooperation: Effective mechanisms must be established to protect children from all forms of violence

On the occasion of Universal Children’s Day 2025, the Independent Permanent Commission for Human Rights of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation affirms its firm commitment to promoting and protecting the rights and dignity of To enable children, especially girls, to achieve their full potential and contribute positively to their communities. Ensuring that all children receive a quality and equitable education remains essential to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and building inclusive and resilient societies.
The Authority also stresses the need to protect children from all forms of violence, exploitation and abuse, including the emerging threats of cyberbullying, online exploitation and digital addiction, which endanger children’s safety and development in the digital age.
The Authority also reiterates that protecting children and ensuring an appropriate level of well-being for them remains one of its most important priorities. The Commission continues to assist the General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in finalizing the Convention on the Rights of the Child, which aims to establish an Islamic framework to protect the best interests of all children in all member states of the Organization.
Action to Protect Palestinian Children
The Independent Permanent Commission for Human Rights calls on the international community, especially the United Nations and relevant human rights mechanisms, to take urgent and concrete measures to protect Palestinian children and hold the Israeli occupation regime accountable for its gross violations of international humanitarian law and human rights law. It also urges all stakeholders, including governments, civil society, teachers and parents, to work collectively to ensure that every child grows up safe, educated and empowered in an environment that respects their dignity and inherent rights.
