The UAE ranks third globally in foreign aid by 2025

His Highness Sheikh Theyab bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Office for Development Affairs and Families of Martyrs, Chairman of the International Humanitarian Affairs Council and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Zayed Humanitarian Legacy Foundation, affirmed that the UAE, under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, “may God protect him,” will continue its global leadership in the humanitarian and development fields, based on its lofty mission and civilizational values towards assistance, solidarity, development and cooperation for the good of all humanity throughout the world regardless of About origin, race, religion, creed, sect, or geographical location.

This came on the occasion of the UAE’s classification as the third largest donor of humanitarian aid in 2025 based on the financial tracking system of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (FTS UNOCHA). His Highness explained that the UAE is moving forward with the urgent humanitarian response to various disasters and crises and facing urgent challenges to reduce the suffering of those affected by wars and conflicts in all circumstances and times, following the immortal humanitarian approach of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al. Nahyan, “may God rest his soul,” and a translation of the inspiring vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, “may God protect him,” and the follow-up of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the State, Deputy Prime Minister and Head of the Presidential Office, towards development, prosperity, and achieving security and stability for various peoples and societies in partnership with international organizations and local stakeholders.

His Highness pointed out that the foreign aid provided by the UAE in the humanitarian, development and charitable fields represents an ongoing contribution to an authentic Emirati approach by the leadership, government and people to help the needy, relieve the afflicted, and extend a helping hand to those affected by natural disasters and humanitarian crises. His Highness noted the country’s commitment to its international humanitarian responsibilities through immediate response and assistance to affected communities and peoples by providing all forms of relief support to achieve early recovery and ensure access to basic needs of food, medicine, clothing and shelter. In addition to implementing medium- and long-term humanitarian and development initiatives, projects, and programs in vital sectors, especially the health care, education, energy, infrastructure, and other sectors.

According to the financial tracking system of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (FTS UNOCHA), the total value of humanitarian aid to the UAE in 2025 amounted to ($1.46 billion), which constitutes 7.2% of the total humanitarian aid documented by the United Nations for all aid provided by countries of the world amounting to ($20.28 billion), as the UAE ranked third in the world after both the United States of America and the European Union.

The UAE’s foreign aid comes in line with the ninth principle of the Fifty Principles regarding foreign humanitarian aid to the UAE as an integral part of its journey and its moral obligations towards less fortunate peoples, as UAE aid is not linked to religion, race, color or culture, and political differences with any country do not justify its failure to provide relief in disasters, emergencies and crises.
