Barcelona celebrated its return to the Camp Nou stadium after an absence of more than two years, with a major victory over Athletic Bilbao in a four-parter, today, in the 13th round of the Spanish Football League.
Barcelona spent the past two seasons at the Montjuïc Olympic Stadium, before returning today to its stadium, which has undergone a development process and an increase in the number of seats, as the Catalan club aims to reach a capacity of 105,000 spectators.
Only 45,000 spectators were allowed to attend the match at the Camp Nou stadium in its new look, and Barcelona rewarded its fans with a wonderful show and a well-deserved 4-0 victory.
Polish Robert Lewandowski opened Barcelona’s goals in the match and at the “Camp Nou” stadium in its new form in the fourth minute, before his teammate Ferran Torres added the second goal in the second minute of stoppage time in the first half.
In the 48th minute, Fermin Lopez scored Barcelona’s third goal, while Bilbao suffered from a numerical disadvantage after its player, Oihan Sunset, was sent off in the 54th minute for interfering with the scorer of the Catalan team’s third goal.
In the first minute of stoppage time in the second half, Ferran Torres scored Barcelona’s fourth goal and his second in this match.
The big win comes at an important time for Barcelona, ​​which raised its score to 31 points to temporarily lead the standings of the competition, awaiting Real Madrid, which will face Elche tomorrow, Sunday, within the same round’s competitions, as the Catalan team will be on a date with a strong confrontation against Chelsea in the Champions League next Tuesday.
On the other hand, Bilbao’s score, which will host Slavia Prague in the Czech Republic, froze at 17 points in eighth place.
