“Mendelssohn Bay” wins the main round in the “Dubai Racing Carnival”

The horse “Mendelssohn Bay” was crowned with the logo of the “Sweet and Butted Racing Syndicate” and under the supervision of coach Bobat Simar, with the title of the “Dubai Creek Mile” championship, which took place the day before yesterday in the fifth and main round of the second evening of the “Dubai Racing Carnival” season at the “Meydan” International Track, organized by the Dubai Horse Racing Club, and its seven rounds were sponsored by “Nakheel” with a total of prizes amounting to 1.94 million dirhams, with 67 competing titles. Elite local and international horses.
The evening also witnessed, in its inaugural and only round dedicated to purebred Arabian horses, the horse “Mubid” with the slogan “Al-Reef Stables”, under the supervision of trainer Jaber Bitar, and led by jockey Ray Dawson, winning the title of the “Bani Yas” Championship, classified as part of the second category “Group 2” races, for a distance of 1,400 meters of sand, and its prizes amounted to 300 thousand dirhams.
Jockey Richard Mullen knew how to lead the horse “Mendelssohn Bay” to make up his start from the last gate of the main race, whose prizes amount to half a million dirhams, and gradually approach the lead constellation, before unleashing his abilities as he entered the final stages of the race, which extended for a distance of 1,600 metres, overtaking his rivals towards taking the lead, and crossing the finish line in first place, achieving a time of one minute, 38 seconds and 28 parts of a second, with a huge difference of 6.03 lengths. For the second place holder, the horse “Mukhtari” with the logo of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, under the supervision of trainer Michael Costa, and led by jockey Silvestre de Sousa.
In the rest of the evening’s results, the title of the second and third halves allocated to the “beginner” horses over the distances of 1400 and 1600 metres, with prizes each amounting to 165 thousand dirhams, went to “Yuno”, owned by Mohammed Ahmed Al-Sabousi, and supervised by trainer Ahmed bin Harmash, and to the colt “Devon Island” with the “Godolphin” logo and supervised by trainer Charlie Appleby.
The fourth race, “Thunder Snow”, which bears the name of the star of the Godolphin team, which won two editions of the Dubai World Cup, attracted 10 elite horses, before the expert horse “Remorz”, under the supervision of trainer Popat Simar, swept his competitors to win the title of the race, which was allocated to purebred hybrid horses in the “parity” category, and whose prizes amounted to 300,000 dirhams, after the jockey Tag O’Shea led him to cross the line at the end of the race. He ran over 1,900 meters of sand, 6.5 lengths clear of his nearest competitor.
The “Dubai Islands” championship, which took place in the sixth round, went over a distance of 1,400 meters of sand, and its prizes amounted to 300 thousand dirhams for the horse “Echo Point”, under the supervision of trainer Musabah Al Muhairi, and led by the jockey Corner Beasley.
The curtain of the evening came down with the seventh round of the “Nakheel Stakes”, designated for horses in the “par” class, over a distance of 1,600 metres, with prizes amounting to 210,000 dirhams, and the horse “Heart of Honor” was crowned with the title, under the supervision of trainer Jimmy Osborne, and led by jockey Savvy Osborne.
