Sudan.. Rapid Support announces a three-month humanitarian truce

On Monday, the Sudanese Rapid Support Forces announced a unilateral humanitarian truce that would last for three months, after Sudanese army commander Abdel Fattah al-Burhan announced his rejection of an international proposal for a truce.

The commander of the Rapid Support Forces, Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, said in a recorded speech: “We will commit to facilitating humanitarian work and the arrival of relief and medical teams to alleviate the suffering of the Sudanese.”

He continued: “Justice will take its course in accordance with international law, and there will be no impunity for any perpetrator of violations.”

He added: “We hope that the Quartet countries will play their role in pushing the other party to respond to the humanitarian truce in Sudan.”
