The UAE national team raises its tally to 4 medals in the Arab Chess Championship in Kuwait

Kuwait, November 25 / WAM / The UAE chess team raised its tally to 4 colored medals, (two silver and two bronze), at the conclusion of the Arab Chess Championship competitions, which concluded today in Kuwait, organized by the Kuwait Chess Federation in cooperation with the Arab Federation, and hosted by the Kuwait Mind Games Club.

The team added two new medals in the classic chess competitions, where Wafia Darwish Al-Maamari, a player for the national team and Al Ain Chess and Mental Games Club, won the silver medal in the women’s category with 7 points from 9 rounds, equal with Jordanian Bashra Al-Shuaibi, who won the gold medal, while Algerian Lina Nasser came in third place with 6.5 points.

In the men’s category, Omran Al Hosani, a player for the national team and the Abu Dhabi Chess and Mental Games Club, won the bronze medal after collecting 6.5 points from 9 rounds, behind the Egyptian Adham Qandil, who came in first place with 7.5 points, and the Lebanese Akram Khadr, who came in second with 7 points.

Al Hosani had previously won the silver medal in the men’s blitz chess competition, while Wafia Darwish Al Mamari won the bronze medal in the women’s blitz chess competition, bringing the total to 4 medals, consisting of two silver and two bronze.
