The UAE launches the first digital platform for buying, selling and trading brands

Today, the Ministry of Economy and Tourism launched the “Brand Market”; The first digital platform for selling and trading trademarks of its kind in the Emirates and the region, which was developed by the “UAE Government Leadership Programme” and represents a new national project that is added to the innovation and competitive environment for intellectual property and the trademark sector in the country’s markets. The platform aims to create a qualitative shift in the trademark industry and push it to higher levels of growth and prosperity, and enhance the UAE’s attractiveness to international companies and brands.
The Minister of Economy and Tourism, Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, said in a press conference in Abu Dhabi that the digital platform for buying, selling and trading trademarks, which began operating today, allows owners of registered trademarks to trade them in a safe and transparent environment and connects them with investors and entrepreneurs.
Bin Touq said, “We expect the number of trademarks in the country to increase by 20% within a year of launching the platform and to support small and medium-sized companies and family businesses,” adding that trading operations will be limited to national and international trademarks registered in the Emirates.
