The President’s Cup for Arabian Horses begins on December 6 at Abu Dhabi Racecourse

Abu Dhabi, November 27 / WAM / Abu Dhabi Racecourse will host the 33rd edition of the His Highness the President’s Cup for Purebred Arabian Horses on December 6, as part of an evening of 7 rounds, with a total prize pool of 10.8 million dirhams.
The first category race, for a distance of 2200 metres, represents the most prominent event on the season’s agenda. It takes center stage with its high value and most expensive prize, with the participation of champion horses, and attracts the elite of riders to compete for a total prize amounting to 8 million dirhams.
The late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God have mercy on him, launched the first edition of the President’s Cup for purebred Arabian horses in 1994, to emphasize the importance of these horses and highlight the distinguished qualities they display in the racing fields, while preserving this important heritage that is an integral part of the heritage.
The event includes an integrated program of entertainment activities, heritage shows that embody the authentic Emirati heritage, and another for children in the Emirati national costume competition, and 6 of the winners will receive a prize of 3,000 dirhams each, in addition to the President’s Cup for Photography competition, the prize of which is 10,000 dirhams for the winning photo, and the evening concludes with a drone show presenting light formations.
Engineer Ali Al Shaibah, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club and Abu Dhabi Racecourse, confirmed that the wise leadership’s interest in purebred Arabian horses contributed to restoring their status and luster by highlighting their capabilities and developing their races in international arenas.
He added that the Cup, through its versions spanning more than three decades, has continued to carry a message of pride in the established equestrian values in our society, and is the largest stage in the world for the best purebred Arabian horses to compete, driven by the most famous owners, led by the elite of riders, and the most competent trainers, to obtain the honor of being crowned with the precious title, which is a precious occasion that establishes the status of the Arabian horse in the conscience of the people of the Emirates, and strengthens their connection to its racing heritage.
