A historic decision by Al-Ahly with Ramadan Sobhi… and Pyramids respond

Today, Friday, Mahmoud Al-Khatib, President of the Egyptian Al-Ahly Club, issued a decision assigning the club’s team of legal advisors to join the defense team for the player Ramadan Sobhi, the former star of the team, based on “the solid principles upon which Al-Ahly was founded, which are based on supporting its children and standing by their side.”

The decision included assigning the club’s legal advisor, Shadi Al-Barqouki, to join the defense and coordination team, in addition to assigning Al-Ahly’s sports legal advisor, Abdullah Shehata, to provide all legal support.

This legal support from Al-Ahly comes at a critical time when Ramadan Sobhi (currently a Pyramids player) is facing enormous legal pressure.

The International Sports Court (CAS) announced that the player would be suspended for four years due to his proven doping use, which means he will be absent from the field until 2029.

The player’s crisis is exacerbated by the fact that he is currently imprisoned in connection with a case of forging exams at the Abu Nomros Institute, which has doubled the legal pressure on his football future.

For its part, the Egyptian Pyramids Club issued an official statement today, Friday, in light of the exceptional circumstances that its player Ramadan Sobhi is going through, stressing its full and unconditional support in this “ordeal,” appreciating the support provided by Al-Ahly’s Board of Directors, headed by Mahmoud Al-Khatib, and welcoming the efforts of the “Red Giant” legal team in defending him.

The club stresses that all members of its organization and Ramadan Sobhi’s family stand behind him, as the Pyramids legal team has been working since day one, in coordination with the international player’s lawyer, to study and discuss all available legal means and prepare the necessary capabilities to support the player, in continuation of the club’s efforts to support the player at all levels in this sensitive stage of his football career.

In this context, the Pyramids Club appealed to sports and international institutions to stand by the player and support him, stressing the need to respect his privacy and his inherent right to defend himself and take all means of appeal stipulated in the laws.

The club also affirmed its full respect for all rulings and decisions of the Egyptian judiciary, noting that the date of the next session to rule on the case brought before it has been decided on the thirtieth of next December.
