Higher Education: Increasing the number of republican decisions to appoint university leaders during 2025
Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, announced that the year 2025 witnessed a noticeable increase in appointment decisions University leaders, in support of the stability of the educational process in universities, academic and administrative development, and to enhance the efficiency of human cadres capable of implementing institutional development plans.
Dr. Ayman Ashour explained that the total number of republican decisions regarding the appointment of university leaders, which were issued during the period from January 1, 2025 to date, amounted to 191 decisions.
The decisions issued during the year 2025 included various leadership positions within Egyptian universities, according to what The following:
• Appointment of university presidents: two decisions
• Appointment of university vice presidents: 21 decisions
• Appointment of college deans: 168 decisions
The minister indicated that these decisions come within the framework of supporting the higher education and scientific research system, and injecting leadership cadres capable of continuing the implementation of development plans, which reflects positively on the quality of the educational and research process within universities.
It is worth noting that the number of republican decisions regarding the appointment of university leaders, which were issued during the year 2024 – according to a statement by Mohamed Ghanem, head of the Central Administration for Affairs of the Office of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research – reached 90 decisions, distributed as follows: 3 decisions to appoint university presidents, 10 decisions to appoint university vice presidents, and 77 decisions to appoint college deans.
