The workshop witnessed a high-level presence presented by the Director General of the “Waqa” branch in the Makkah region, Dr. Ghaleb Al-Saadi, and the Director General of the branch of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture in the region, Engineer Walid Al-Daghis, which reflects the extent of the official interest in enhancing biosecurity and unifying efforts among the various relevant sectors to ward off this silent danger.

The scientific topics of the event focused on consolidating the concepts of “biosecurity” within animal facilities as a first line of defense, while emphasizing the importance of preventive vaccination programs as a safe and effective alternative that reduces the need for the use of medical drugs, and thus reduces the chances of the development of resistant microbes.

Through this gathering, the Center sought to create societal and professional awareness of the dangers of malpractices, stressing that the responsibility is shared and is not limited to health practitioners or veterinarians only, but extends to educators and the entire community to ensure an environment Free from incurable epidemics.

Experts stressed during the sessions that working according to the “One Health” system and multi-sectoral cooperation is the only way to control infection and ensure that antimicrobials remain effective in confronting diseases that threaten livestock and public health alike.
