India confirms its continued assistance to Sri Lanka to mitigate the effects of the cyclone "Detwah"

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi affirmed his country’s continued support for Sri Lanka to mitigate the effects of the Cyclone Ditwah disaster. Through rescue and relief operations and providing all necessary assistance in the coming days to support the reform efforts made by the Sri Lankan authorities in order to resume public utility services and restore livelihoods in the affected areas.
This came during telephone conversations that Modi held with Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, today, Monday, during which he expressed his condolences for the victims of the cyclone that caused widespread destruction in Sri Lanka.
The Indian Prime Minister’s Office stated, in a statement, that Modi expressed The standing, solidarity and support of the people of India to the people of Sri Lanka in their time of need.
The Sri Lankan President expressed his deep gratitude for the assistance provided by India in the wake of the cyclone disaster, saying: “We appreciate India’s promptness in deploying rescue teams and providing relief materials, and the people of Sri Lanka express their appreciation for the efforts made by India immediately after the occurrence of this disaster, which had an effective impact in mitigating its effects.”
