Kuwait frustrates the Pharaohs team and snatches a valuable draw in the Arab Cup

The Egyptian national team and its Kuwaiti counterpart tied with one goal each at the start of the third group matches of the Arab Cup, which was held today at Lusail Stadium in Qatar.

Although the “Pharaohs” dominated during the first half and wasted more than one opportunity, the defining moment came in the 36th minute when the Egyptian team won a penalty kick after obstructing Islam Issa inside the area. Amr Al-Soulia advanced to it, but he shot the ball outside the goal, wasting a valuable opportunity to put his team in the lead, so the first half ended in a goalless draw despite the clear Egyptian superiority.

In the second half, the Kuwaiti team turned the tide of the match, when Fahd Al-Hajri succeeded in translating a perfect cross from Mohamed Daham into a beautiful vertical goal that shook the Egyptians’ net, “64.”

Mohamed Dahham almost increased Al-Azraq’s lead after being completely alone with the goal, but goalkeeper Mohamed Bassam brilliantly saved his country’s team.

The 82nd minute witnessed a breakthrough for the Egyptian team, which received a second penalty kick and expulsion of goalkeeper Saud Al-Hoshan after a violent intervention with Marawan Hamdy, so that Mohamed Magdy Qafsha was able to translate it into a goal.

After the goal, the Egyptian team continued its attempts to return, but it continued the series of wasting opportunities, so that each team obtained a draw point, waiting for the confrontation between the UAE and Jordan tomorrow to determine the winner of the third group.
