“Al-Abyad” stumbles against Jordan in the Arab Cup

The national football team narrowly lost to its Jordanian counterpart, 1-2, in the opening of the third group matches of the Arab Cup currently being held in Qatar, and it has been outnumbered since the 20th minute.

The right-back, Khaled Al-Dhanhani, committed a grave mistake when he obstructed Jordanian striker Ali Alouni inside the penalty area. Omani referee Ahmed Al-Kaf awarded a penalty kick and issued a direct red card, giving Al-Nashama the lead goal and a decisive numerical advantage.

The numerical deficiency made Al-Abyad lose its threat to the Jordanian goal, as its individuality dominated its attacking attempts, without goalkeeper Yazid Abu Laila being subjected to any real test.

Individual errors continued when goalkeeper Hamad Al-Muqbali caused a second penalty kick after the intervention of video technology, which returned the shot to the referee, who confirmed his decision to award the game in favor of the Jordanian national team, before Al-Muqbali excelled and blocked the kick brilliantly.

The performance of Al-Abyad was completely transformed in the second half, as the team appeared in a more daring and organized manner, and striker Bruno de Oliveira led it to a strong return to the atmosphere of the match, after it was able to equalize through a perfect shot that placed it in the same corner where Jordanian goalkeeper Yazid Abu Laila (47) was positioned.

The same player almost scored on a second occasion, after a ball he received inside the box, but the Jordanian goalkeeper intervened and sent the ball away to a corner.

In the midst of a clear advantage for the Emirati team, Kwame committed a new mistake by failing to clear the ball from Yazan Al-Naimat and restored the lead to Al-Nashami again (63).
