المملكة: In the presence of 3,800 participants, 43 agreements were signed at the Non-Profit Sector Forum


The National Center for the Development of Nonprofit Sector Business The International Non-Profit Sector Forum (Beyond Profit), under the patronage of the Minister of Human Resources and Social Development, Ahmed bin Sulaiman Al-Rajhi, Chairman of the Center’s Board of Directors, in the presence of Their Highnesses and Excellencies, entities from the public, private and non-profit sectors, representatives of international organizations and donor institutions, social entrepreneurs, and social responsibility leaders, with a wide participation of more than 3,800 participants and speakers. 100 local and international speakers, in more than 30 dialogue sessions, in addition to an executive program and workshops that discussed the future of the non-profit sector, and enhancing its economic and social impact by developing capabilities, expanding partnerships, and reviewing international experiences, as the number of workshops exceeded 25 workshops.

Non-Profit Sector Forum

During the forum, two new initiatives were announced, launched by the National Center for Non-Profit Sector Development, represented by the Non-Profit Sector Insurance Initiative (Wasq), and the Non-Profit Sector Research Awards Initiative, which aim to support workers in the sector, stimulate knowledge, enhance innovation, and raise the institutional capabilities of non-profit organizations.

The forum witnessed the signing of more than 43 agreements and memorandums of cooperation and understanding, covering the areas of institutional development, scientific research, capacity development, digital transformation, and data management, in a step aimed at expanding partnerships, empowering non-profit organizations, and raising their readiness.

Specific Initiatives

As part of the forum’s activities, the Center launched the corporate volunteer network and the establishment of volunteer departments in the private sector, which aims to link entities from various sectors, in order to increase effectiveness and enhance contributions with a positive social impact through the preparation of applied evidence and qualitative initiatives, and increasing competitiveness in Volunteer work, in order to enhance its culture and opportunities to participate in it.

On the other hand, the Center issued 29 social investment certificates for non-profit organizations, in order to activate the rules of social impact investment, which the Center announced last August, as the rules aim to regulate the issuance of the social impact investment certificate, encourage establishments to invest in social impact, and raise investors’ confidence in establishments that have obtained the certificate.

The National Award for Volunteer Work

During the forum, the National Award for Volunteer Work ceremony was launched, during which 37 winners were honored across 31 awards. The National Award for Volunteer Work included 4 tracks, namely the Appreciation Track, the Authorities Track, the Volunteer Initiatives Track, and the Volunteer Track.

The CEO of the National Center for Non-Profit Sector Development, Ahmed bin Ali Al-Suwailem, explained that organizing a forum The international non-profit sector in Riyadh is a reflection of the great interest and support that the non-profit sector receives from the wise leadership – may God support it -, as the sector is a major enabler of achieving sustainable development within the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, and a contributor to building a vibrant society. We recall the visions and ideas that were presented during the International Non-Profit Sector Forum, which was held in the heart of the capital, Riyadh. Through impact leaders, policy makers and innovators who forge new partnerships and adopt innovative ideas and strategies to drive growth and expand societal impact.

Developing Governance

Al-Suwailem said: "The forum represents a global platform that brings together sector leaders and experts from various countries of the world, and expands areas of cooperation and qualitative partnerships, thus enhancing the Kingdom’s position as an international center for innovation and social impact, and a major supporter of the development of non-profit organizations."

He explained that the forum aims to reimagine the role of the non-profit sector as a driver of human progress, through developing governance, building partnerships, enabling innovation, and benefiting from modern technologies, in addition to developing the capabilities of working competencies."

Social investments

He stressed that the forum will contribute to achieving tangible results, including expanding professional networks, attracting new social investments, and enabling non-profit organizations to adopt international best practices, which enhances the building of a more effective, comprehensive and sustainable system within the Kingdom and at the global level.

He pointed out that the Kingdom, by holding the first edition of the international forum, is leading the global development transformation of the non-profit sector, and consolidating its leadership as a global center. For innovation and impact.

Celebrating volunteers

The conclusion of the forum coincides with International Volunteer Day, corresponding to December 5, which is an international occasion to honor volunteers and highlight the profound developmental value of volunteer work around the world.

This coincidence represented an opportunity to highlight the pivotal role of volunteers in the non-profit sector within the Kingdom, as the forum – through its sessions, initiatives and the launch of the National Award for Volunteer Work – reflected a new reality in which the Kingdom is progressing towards building a more volunteer system. Organization and impact.

The celebration of volunteers during the Forum also embodied the Kingdom’s message in promoting the culture of giving and consolidating the contribution of volunteer work to sustainable development, in line with the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 in raising community participation and expanding the impact of the non-profit sector locally and internationally.
