A scoreless first half between Egypt and the UAE in the Arab Cup

The first half of the Egyptian national team’s match against the UAE ended in a scoreless draw, in the match held at Lusail Stadium in the second round of the group stage of the Arab Cup.

The half witnessed Egyptian control of the ball, but it was formal and did not turn into real chances against the UAE’s goal. The first dangerous opportunity for the Emirates came in the 31st minute after a defensive lapse in which the striker was able to pass the Egyptian defenders and shoot the ball, but Egypt’s goalkeeper Mohamed Bassam blocked it brilliantly.

The Egyptian national team tried to threaten the Emirates’ goal after that, and had a dangerous opportunity in the 41st minute after a free kick taken by Islam Issa. It reached a header shot from Yassin Merhi, but it passed over the crossbar, ending the first half in a goalless draw.
