In a joyful, festive atmosphere filled with joy, happiness, and happiness; Today, Monday, the National Press Authority, headed by Engineer Abdel Sadiq Al-Shorbaji, organized an extensive celebration at the authority’s headquarters, in the presence of a number of members of the authority, leaders of national press institutions, and senior writers, in order to hand over the prizes for the first edition of the Journalism Excellence Competition, which bore the name of the distinguished journalist writer “Sanaa Al-Baisi”.
The ceremony was attended by Alaa Thabet, Undersecretary of the Authority, Amr Al-Khayyat, Osama Abu Pasha, Dr. Sameh Mahrous, members of the Commission, Marwa El-Sisi, Secretary-General, Dr. Ahmed Mukhtar, Advisor to the Authority for Investment, and Walid Abdel Aziz, President of Akhbar Al-Youm Investment Company.
The celebration was presented by journalist Hamdi Rizk, a member of the Authority, stressing that the competition witnessed a great turnout and excellence in the works submitted and reveals a great effort by colleagues in their institutions and publications, and the successive development in the journalistic content presented in national press releases in the various arts of journalistic work.
At the beginning, Engineer Abdul Sadiq welcomed Al-Shorbagy, Chairman of the Authority, was in attendance, and expressed his overwhelming happiness at organizing this celebration to hand out prizes for the first edition of the Journalism Excellence Competition, which the Authority launched to support distinguished journalistic talents and cadres and to motivate members of the profession to further creativity, innovation, and intensify efforts, both within the scope of his work and specialization.
Al-Shorbagy said: We always bet on the strength and ability of Egypt’s national press, distinguished institutions, publications, and human resources; To confront the challenges and defend the nation, its institutions, issues and priorities. He stressed that the Authority made a very great effort to preserve the national press. He said: We assumed responsibility about 5 years ago and the situation was very difficult as we faced challenges at all levels, journalistically, administratively and financially. We developed a strategy to develop journalistic content as well as updating websites, creating portals and developing the social media work system. Specialists were hired in this regard, and this file will witness great development during the period.
Al-Shorbagy pointed out that the financial and administrative situation in the institutions was facing many problems, explaining that the journalism industry is very expensive, and the challenges multiplied with the global cross-border crises starting with the Corona pandemic and the international events that followed. He stressed that with everyone’s cooperation, the financial and administrative situation was controlled, and late general assemblies were held since 2012, until we reached during this period discussing the budgets for 2023 and 2024, and work on the budgets was also approved. The Chairman of the Authority indicated that today’s celebration of publications, dear colleagues, and journalistic figures distinguished themselves in their work and deserved to win this competition, according to professional rules and standards, within the framework of the National Press Authority’s direction and strategy to develop journalistic content, stimulate efforts, appreciate talents, and create a spirit of honorable professional competition among members of national newspapers, as well as administrative development and appreciation of distinguished administrative and labor colleagues.
He stressed that Egypt’s national press is rich in its expertise. And its great national pens, offering thanks to the great journalist writer Sanaa Al-Baisi, and confirmed that the Authority launched the first edition of the Journalism Excellence Competition in her name, in recognition of her distinguished journalistic role and to celebrate her professional history.
The Chairman of the Authority also thanked the institutions, publications, and colleagues who won the competition; The Evaluation Committee has made great efforts in its work, wishing continued progress, progress and prosperity.
