The Minister of Investment discusses with a group "Abu Ghali Motors" Plans to localize the motorcycle industry in Egypt

Engineer Hassan Al-Khatib, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, held a meeting today, Monday in the New Capital, with Mohamed Abu Ghali, CEO of Abu Ghali Motors Group, and his accompanying delegation, to discuss opportunities to attract new investments to localize the motorcycle industry in Egypt, in cooperation with major Italian and international companies such as the “Piago” group. Owner of the famous “Vespa” brand.

 

During the meeting, the two parties discussed ways to promote investment in the motorcycle industry and localize the industry and its positive economic and social impact.

The Minister stressed the importance of improving quality and safety standards in this sector, pointing to continuous coordination with the concerned authorities, led by the Ministry of Interior, and the importance of working to localize a real industry and standard specifications that guarantee safety. Citizens.

Al-Khatib directed the need to prepare a comprehensive and detailed market study, in coordination with the main players in the sector, to determine the expected volume of demand and the required technical specifications, to develop a final vision that prevents smuggling and unregulated imports, ensures the protection of the national industry, and at the same time meets the needs of the Egyptian consumer for safe, advanced, and environmentally friendly means of transportation.

For his part, Mohamed Abu Ghali, CEO of Abu Ghaly Motors Group, reviewed the group’s vision to promote the concept of smart and sustainable urban transportation, He explained that motorcycles represent 70% of transportation in European cities and East Asia, and are an ideal solution to reduce traffic congestion in Egypt.

He pointed out that providing motorcycles with standard safety specifications and energy-efficient engines in the Egyptian market will serve a wide segment of young people and university students, especially in light of the high prices of cars.
