"Higher education" A Gulf delegation reviewed the best practices of educational system governance

ABU DHABI, 9 December / WAM / The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research received a delegation from the Ministries of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the Gulf Cooperation Council, within the framework of implementing the outcomes of the twenty-fourth meeting of the Ministers of Higher Education and Scientific Research in the GCC countries, which was held in the Qatari capital – Doha last year, and aimed at organizing periodic visits between member states to learn about the best experiences and practices in the areas of developing the higher education sector and enhancing international classifications.

The visiting delegation included representatives from academic accreditation bodies, higher education institutions, and planning and development bodies in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries. During the visit, a number of strategic files and the UAE’s efforts to develop the higher education system in the country were reviewed, the most prominent of which were: (developing the national system for recognizing qualifications, and enhancing its efficiency, by reducing requirements, improving the quality of data, and linking it digitally with higher education institutions).

During the meetings, the Ministry also reviewed its efforts to combat academic fraudulent practices, by employing digital monitoring and proactive monitoring tools. To protect students and ensure the quality of the outcomes of the educational process.

It discussed the most prominent developments in the field of international classifications, and the output-based assessment framework adopted by the Ministry, to strengthen the link between higher education outcomes and labor market needs, especially in the areas of scientific research and skills development.

The visit’s work program included organizing field visits to Khalifa University of Science and Technology and Mohammed bin Zayed University for Artificial Intelligence. To learn about the Emirati experience in the fields of innovative education, artificial intelligence, and advanced scientific research.

This visit reflects the keenness of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries to enhance joint cooperation paths in developing the higher education sector, and to exchange expertise and experiences, in a way that contributes to improving the readiness of the Gulf educational system, to prepare generations capable of leading the development process in the GCC countries.
