The Ministry of Education revealed the controls and conditions under which studies are suspended inside educational buildings and the transition to distance education, and the activation of the Madrasati platform.

She said that the decision to suspend comes after coordination with the relevant authorities represented by the region’s emirate, the governorate, the secretariat, civil defense, and the National Center of Meteorology within the framework of an integrated system aimed at enhancing the safety of students and school personnel when weather fluctuations or various emergencies occur.

The Ministry explained that among the most prominent cases that require suspension of studies are: precipitation. Heavy rain, ranging in quantity from 10 to 50 mm or more, stirred up dust, dust storms, and dust plankton, in addition to dense fog in which horizontal visibility is less than one kilometre, strong winds with a speed exceeding 60 kilometers per hour, waves with a height of more than 3 metres, cold waves in which temperatures drop to 7 degrees Celsius below zero, as well as heat waves in which temperatures exceed 51 degrees Celsius, in addition to severe snow storms whose height exceeds 5 degrees Celsius. Powers to suspend studies

In the same context, the school principal was granted the authority to convert in-person classes to distance learning in cases where Specific matters include emergency maintenance, a power outage, or the lack of water for only one day, in addition to the presence of a risk to the safety of students inside the school or on the way to it, such as a fire or the collapse of part of the educational building, or pollution or leakage of hazardous materials that require disinfection for one day.

On a related level, a number of schools in Jeddah Governorate suspended in-person classes and transferred them to distance learning via the Suspension of studies in a number of Jeddah schools, based on the rainfall that the governorate witnessed yesterday, Tuesday, that may affect the safety of male and female students and their safe arrival to study centers. It was decided to suspend in-person studies and move to distance education via the Madrasati platform today, Wednesday, 12/10/2025 AD, in order to preserve the safety of everyone and to avoid any potential risks that may result from the prevailing weather conditions.
