elected "Pick up the pegs" Wins team and individual gold at the opening of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in Cairo

Cairo, December 10 / WAM / Our national peg team opened its participation in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, by winning team and individual gold in the 4 and 6 cm javelin and 6 cm individual events.

The qualifiers began today at the Kayan City Club in the New Administrative Capital, amid strong competition, and the opening activities witnessed several segments, including a review of the participating teams, in addition to celebratory performances.

The UAE Knights excelled in the team competitions by winning first place and the gold medal after advanced technical levels, while the knight Issa Abdul Majeed Al Balushi won the individual gold.

Our national team’s participation in the qualifiers will continue tomorrow with saber competitions in teams, doubles (4 and 6 cm), and singles (6 cm).

Rashid Humaid Al Mazrouei, head of the peg picking department at the federation and head of the delegation, said that the strong start had a positive impact on the hearts of the riders to continue the strong performance in the rest of the competitions, to enhance the chances of qualifying for the finals scheduled for next year in Jordan.
