Details of the meeting of the Medical Council with representatives of the branches to discuss mechanisms for implementing the Medical Liability Law
The General Syndicate of Egyptian Physicians held an expanded meeting with representatives of sub-unions at the republic level to discuss the mechanisms for implementing the Medical Liability Law after its issuance, and to follow up on the results of the official meetings held with the Attorney General, the Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development, the Minister of Health and Population, and the Minister of Justice.
The meeting witnessed a rich and expanded professional dialogue about the most important provisions of the new law and its implications for the practice of the profession, and ways to achieve a balance between protecting the doctor while performing his work and ensuring the rights of patients and recipients of medical services, in a way that enhances the practice. Safe medical care preserves the prestige of the profession and the trust of society.
The General Doctors Syndicate extends its sincere thanks and appreciation to the sub-unions that participated in the meeting for their effective presence, serious interaction, and the insights and practical observations they provided that influenced the discussion and contributed to forming a clearer picture of the challenges of applying the law on the ground.
The attendees also reviewed the most prominent messages and clarifications that emerged from the Syndicate’s meetings with the Attorney General and the Ministers of Health and Justice regarding mechanisms for dealing with medical liability issues, stressing the importance of Continued coordination and consultation with the judicial and executive authorities to ensure that the law is implemented in a spirit of justice and objectivity.
The participants agreed to continue holding periodic meetings between the General Union and the sub-unions to follow up on any developments or challenges during the implementation of the law, and to collect observations from the ground to submit periodic reports to the concerned authorities, ensuring the improvement of the work environment for doctors and the provision of the best medical service to citizens.
During the meeting, emphasis was placed on preparing a simplified explanatory material for doctors and members of the medical team that includes an explanation of the most important points of the new medical liability law. It will be presented in the form of an awareness video in the coming period.
