Polls close in 30 districts of the first phase of the House of Representatives elections

Sub-polling committees closed their doors at exactly 9 pm today, Wednesday, in most electoral centers, on the first day of re-procedures in the first phase of the House of Representatives elections, which are conducted for individual seats in 30 electoral districts within 10 governorates, in implementation of the rulings of the State Council judiciary. Work continued within a number of polling committees, in which voters were present within the scope of the electoral complex before 9 p.m., as the headquarters of the electoral centers in which these committees were located were closed, and a count of the numbers of those present was conducted, and work continued until the completion of enabling all of them to cast their votes in the elections.

The advisors to the State Cases Authority and the Administrative Prosecution Authority, heads of the subcommittees that were closed, wrote minutes of procedures in which they proved the numbers of those who cast their votes on the first day of the elections, And the numbers of voting cards that were not used.

After the end of voting for the last citizens inside the electoral centers, the advisors and heads of the subcommittees supervised the process of closing the ballot boxes with the secure code locks designated for this purpose, closing all the doors and windows in the headquarters of those committees, placing the necessary seals on top of them – specially prepared for this matter – and leaving them under tight security guard by the police forces charged with securing the electoral centers, provided that the committees resume their work again as of nine in the morning. Tomorrow, on the second day of voting.

The National Elections Authority has confirmed that a number of electoral committees in a group of governorates have witnessed, over the course of hours today, a large and noticeable turnout by voters to participate and cast their votes.

The number of seats in the House of Representatives that are witnessing competition in this electoral round is 58 individual seats in 2,372 sub-polling committees, with a total of 16 million people entitled to cast their votes. 43,297 voters.

The conduct of this electoral round comes in light of the judicial rulings issued by the Supreme Administrative Court on November 29, canceling the electoral process in 30 constituencies and ordering it to be repeated after the last valid procedure, which is electoral propaganda.

The electoral process is conducted under the supervision of advisors to judicial bodies, and continues for two consecutive days amid follow-up by various civil society organizations and local and international media.
