المملكة: Environmental events and initiatives cover the Kingdom to celebrate its unique nature
The Kingdom celebrated The National Center for Vegetation Development and Combating Desertificationa number of volunteer opportunities in several regions of the Kingdom, which witnessed wide participation of volunteers. In Mecca Region, the initiatives included Wadi Madha in Taif Governorate, and Jabal al-Qamar in Khulais Governorate.
The Center also launched volunteer opportunities in the Al-Bahah region, including Shada Al-Asfal in Qilwah Governorate, and Al-Ghouqa Forest in Bani Kabir in Baljurashi, and in the Jazan region, volunteer opportunities were organized in Al-Reith Governorate, in addition to other volunteer opportunities in the Medina region; To celebrate this day.
A special experience
In the Najran region, the Center celebrated International Mountain Day through a distinctive mountain climbing experience in Wadi Mugheed, which gave volunteers and visitors the opportunity to learn about the natural and geological diversity that the region abounds in.
In the same context, the Center organized an introductory visit for its employees to the village of Ghamra in Thadiq Governorate in the Riyadh region, with the aim of raising the level of awareness. The importance of mountain systems as unique environments that contribute to enhancing sustainability and protecting natural resources.
Rare Species
The mountainous regions of the Kingdom are full of unique plant diversity, including rare and endemic species, which contribute to preserving the environmental balance and supporting biodiversity. The Center works to protect and develop these ecosystems by implementing many projects and initiatives, such as forest rehabilitation projects in the regions of Medina, Asir, Najran, and Al-Baha, and the rehabilitation of various forest sites in the Kingdom’s environments (stage The third and fourth), and the national forest inventory project, in addition to the two projects to limit the spread of encroaching plants.
