Environment and the Innovators Fund launch a cooperation to support pioneering ideas in the face of climate change

The Ministry of Environment, through its Egyptian Ozone Unit and the Fund for Innovators and Brilliant Persons, signed a cooperation protocol with the aim of supporting innovation in the fields of environmental sustainability and climate action, at the Ministry of Environment’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital.
The protocol was signed by Dr. Ali Mahmoud, Director of the Institutional Support Project for the Montreal Protocol at the Egyptian Ozone Unit, and Dr. Tamer Hamouda, Executive Director of the Fund for Innovators and Brilliant Persons, under the patronage of Dr. Manal Awad, Minister of Local Development and Acting Minister of the Environment, And Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
This cooperation comes within the framework of the two sides’ keenness to support researchers, innovators, entrepreneurs and emerging companies, especially within universities and higher education institutions, and to enhance the stimulating environment for pioneering ideas in the fields of sustainability and environmental work. Dr. Manal Awad explained that the protocol is an important step to transform research and innovative ideas into applicable products, adding that the cooperation aims to enhance innovation in the industrial sector, especially in the fields of air conditioning, refrigeration, foam, and thermal insulation materials.
She indicated that the fund will allocate a path for pioneering graduation projects in the fields of climate action and sustainability; In support of the implementation of the National Policy for Sustainable Innovation within the National Strategy for Scientific Research 2030, which gives priority to enabling innovation and entrepreneurship, and encouraging applied research capable of providing practical solutions that enhance sustainable development.
This cooperation reflects the Ministry of Environment, represented by the Egyptian Ozone Unit, to support researchers, innovators and geniuses, and enhance their role in creating practical and non-typical solutions to environmental challenges, stressing that the Ministry is working to integrate environmental issues into school curricula. In engineering colleges, technological institutes, and technical schools, which contributes to raising environmental awareness among students, preserving the safety of the work environment and occupational health, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions that exacerbate the phenomenon of climate change.
The protocol also aims to enhance cooperation between the Environmental Affairs Agency and the Innovators and Geniuses Fund to support climate action and environmental innovation in universities and research centers, through the implementation of an integrated set of joint activities and programmes. These activities include organizing awareness campaigns and introductory events on the principles Sustainability, and holding competitions in the field of climate action, so that the best ideas and innovative projects are linked to rehabilitation and training programs that contribute to creating job opportunities for the distinguished. The protocol also stipulates holding specialized workshops with the participation of experts and specialists in entrepreneurship and innovation; To discuss policies that support climate action, and review the most prominent challenges and opportunities, with the participation of international bodies and partners.
The protocol also aims to encourage the integration of the environmental dimension into school curricula, support innovative technological ideas and solutions, in addition to strengthening partnerships between researchers and the private sector to launch joint projects that contribute to creating sustainable job opportunities, protecting the environment, and reducing harmful emissions, in a way that enhances sustainable development efforts and increases environmental awareness among young people. And researchers.
