Jordan eliminates Iraq from the Arab Cup.. “Al-Nashama” has a date with Saudi Arabia

The Jordanian national team retained its seat in the semi-finals of the 2025 Arab Cup, after defeating its Iraqi counterpart with a clean goal, in the match that brought them together at the Education City Stadium in the Qatari capital, Doha, “Friday”, within the quarter-final competitions, amid a crowd of 45 thousand fans.
The match started difficult for Al-Nashama, after their star Yazan Al-Naimat was injured in the eighth minute after falling to the ground. The player tried to return to complete the match, but in the end he was forced to leave the field and his place was taken by the young player Odeh Al-Fakhouri (14).
The Iraqi team took advantage of Al-Nashama’s temporary confusion to control the midfield, but without being able to turn this into dangerous scoring opportunities. With the passage of time, the Jordanians regained their balance and gradually began to impose their style, until they got a golden opportunity from Mahmoud Al-Mardi’s header, which touched the hand of Iraqi defender Mustafa Saadwan, so the referee awarded a penalty kick after reviewing the video technology (VAR), to which Ali Alwan successfully submitted, scoring the only goal of the match in “41”.
The young player, Odeh Al Fakhouri, almost doubled the score, but his goal was canceled due to his teammate Ali Alwan being offside before scoring.

In the second half, the Jordanian team was subjected to continuous offensive pressure from Iraq, with numerous crosses and free kicks, but the real danger came through Ali Jassim’s shot, which was deflected by goalkeeper Yazid Abu Laila with his fingertips to the corner “58”.
“Abu Laila” returned to shine again to block another shot from Ali Jassim, and the defense then blocked it, “70.”
Al-Nashama’s defense was valiant for the remainder of the time amid an Iraqi siege, and the match ended with the goal that was scored in the first half.
With this victory, Jordan will face Saudi Arabia in the semi-finals in a decisive match for the two teams to continue the journey towards the final match.
