المملكة: Exempting distinguished schools from central tests… and enabling departments to expand the application

The Ministry of EducationThe Director General of Education has regulatory powers aimed at enhancing the quality of the educational process and raising the efficiency of learning outcomes. These powers include exempting schools that achieve advanced levels of excellence in learning outcomes from taking central exams.

This comes within the framework of empowering the school and highlighting the maturity of its educational experience, in addition to allowing the expansion of the application of central exams for more than one academic period during the academic year, and targeting specific grades and subjects, within the “framework of central exams for the academic year 1447 AH.” According to what education departments deem appropriate to achieve educational goals.

Improving education

This approach stems from the importance of improving Education, in a way that enhances the integration of the educational system in its various roles, as central tests are one of the main tools that are used to contribute to the development of educational methods, measure the level of educational achievement, identify strengths and weaknesses, and identify educational gaps.

In this context, the Ministry of Education was keen to resume the application of central tests that were launched in 1437 AH according to a development vision aimed at unifying evaluation standards, and extracting accurate data, information, and statistics about students’ performance levels, and the extent of their mastery of skills. And the basic knowledge and concepts in their academic achievement.

Development plans

Applying this framework contributes to supporting the drawing of Development plans that improve the quality of education, and define joint responsibility between education departments and schools, which is reflected in improving the results of educational performance indicators and performance in the targeted subjects, in addition to aligning education outcomes with the strategic goals of the Ministry of Education. The central examinations framework also organizes all work and tasks at various levels, along with the student evaluation regulations and their executive procedures in general education for the year 2025, and the examinations guide for the year 2025, which includes the technical foundations and procedural processes.

According to the approved framework, central tests are final tests that are applied from the third grade of primary school to the third grade of middle school, and target basic academic subjects through questions with specific specifications and controls in light of the curricula. They are prepared centrally through specialized committees and in coordination with the National Curriculum Center, in a way that ensures achieving justice and unifying standards of measurement and evaluation.

These tests aim to improve the educational process by improving teachers’ teaching and evaluation practices based on the results of the tests, ensuring that all units, skills and academic knowledge required in the entire course for the academic period are covered, improving the construction and formulation of questions presented to students, raising the level of academic achievement in the results of national and international studies, diagnosing the strengths and weaknesses of the curriculum, and comparing the current performance level of students with the targeted level in order to serve the improvement of learning outcomes.

Central tests are applied to all public and private public education students at the end of the second academic period, and include the third grade of primary school in the Arabic language and mathematics, and the sixth grade of primary school and the third intermediate grade in the subjects of the Arabic language, mathematics, science, and English language, with the exception of continuing education schools, adult education, and students with disabilities, taking into account the privacy of these educational groups.
