Zayed Al Khair Caravans begin providing cardiac health care to children and the elderly in Sindh province

Sindh Province, December 13, 2017 – Today, the Zayed Al Khair convoys began their humanitarian efforts in Pakistani villages, under the supervision of the Emirati-Pakistani volunteer medical team, to provide treatment and specialized medical care for children and the elderly with heart disease, under the slogan “In the footsteps and approach of Zayed Al Khair”, through mobile clinics and a mobile hospital equipped with the latest diagnostic, therapeutic and surgical medical technologies, in accordance with international standards.
These efforts come within a joint humanitarian initiative that brings together “Zayed Giving”, the Sharjah Charitable House Foundation, and the Emirates Mobile Clinics, under the supervision of the Emirates Program for Young Voluntary and Humanitarian Leaders, and in coordination with the UAE Consulate in Karachi.
The volunteer medical team and the Emirati-Pakistani Mobile Hospital, in its current station in Sindh Province, are working to strengthen the humanitarian partnership between health and volunteer institutions in the UAE and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, with the aim of reaching a wide segment of children and the elderly in Pakistani villages. The hospital includes Emirati and Pakistani volunteer medical teams, along with doctors and surgeons from several countries, working under a common volunteer and humanitarian umbrella.
Dr. Anwar Al Zaabi, head of the medical mission and Emirati cardiologist consultant, stressed the volunteers’ keenness to participate in their current station in Pakistan, in a way that reflects the pioneering role of humanitarian doctors from the Emirates and Pakistan, pointing out the provision of free treatment to needy groups with the aim of alleviating the suffering of patients in remote villages.
He explained that the convoys are currently focusing on promoting the culture of volunteerism and consolidating the values of giving and tolerance, in addition to alleviating the suffering of poor patients, especially children, women and the elderly, conveying a message of love from the Emirates and publicizing the achievements of Zayed Al Khair.
He pointed out that the convoys will continue their tours in Pakistani villages via medical buses and field hospitals to provide diagnostic, therapeutic and preventive services, in addition to organizing training programs to raise the readiness of the first line of defense cadres, under the supervision of the Emirates Preparedness and Response Programme, “Readiness.”
For his part, His Excellency Sultan Muhammad Al Khayal, Secretary General of the Sharjah Charitable House Foundation, confirmed that the convoys provided broad specialized medical services through equipped field units that included reception, emergency, care, laboratory, and pharmacy, in addition to mobile clinics that reach remote areas, noting that an elite group of Emirati volunteers belonging to the Emirates Program for Community and Specialized Volunteering supervised the convoys, in a way that enhances volunteer mobility and enables young people to serve communities.
In turn, Dr. Adel Al-Shammari Al-Ajmi, CEO of the Zayed Giving Initiative, stressed that the convoys embody the UAE’s keenness to provide medical care to those in need through specialized cadres and equipped convoys that provide integrated diagnostic services, including radiology, analysis, and a pharmacy that provides free medicines, in addition to health awareness programs and prevention of heart disease. He appreciated the efforts of volunteers from senior Emirati and Pakistani doctors in the Emirates Program for Young Voluntary and Humanitarian Leaders.
The Pakistani Ministry of Health appreciated the UAE’s role in supporting global health initiatives, especially in the field of treating and preventing heart diseases, stressing the importance of the UAE’s humanitarian efforts in helping those in need and promoting the values of volunteerism, community cohesion and humanitarian giving globally.
