Regulation of working hours and rest
The regulations affirm that it is not permissible for a worker to actually work more than 8 hours a day, or to work him during rest days for more than 5 consecutive hours without a break for food.
It is also not permissible to work more than 5 consecutive hours without interspersed with a rest period of not less than half an hour, which is counted within the working hours.
Additional pay and a weekly day of rest
The regulations obligate the employer to pay an additional wage for overtime hours of work equivalent to the hourly wage plus 50% of the basic wage, with the hours of work performed on holidays and holidays not being counted among the additional working hours.
The worker is entitled to a weekly paid rest day of no less than 24 consecutive hours, and he has the right to an alternative rest day if he is employed on the weekly rest day.
Annual leave of no less than 30 days
The regulations grant the worker an annual paid leave of no less than 30 days for each year of work, with his right to cash compensation for the balance of leave in the event that the contractual relationship ends before it is exhausted.
The Eid al-Fitr leave is also set at four days starting from the twenty-ninth day of the month of Ramadan, in addition to two days off. National Day and Foundation Day are on the twelfth of February every year.
Employer Obligations and Workers’ Rights
The regulations obligated the employer to provide suitable housing for the worker inside or outside the workplace, and appropriate food or financial allowance for it, in addition to providing means of transportation or financial compensation in the event that the residence is different from the workplace.
It stressed that the worker should not be charged any expenses related to the entry, residence, or exit visa, and not keep his passport or any His official documents or personal belongings.
The regulations affirmed the employer’s obligation to bear the costs of preparing, transporting and burying the worker’s body inside the Kingdom in the event of his death, and not preventing him from communicating with his family, or exercising his right to grievance and appeal before the competent authorities, in addition to not charging him any fees related to recruitment procedures.
On the other hand, the regulations obligated the worker to perform the agreed-upon work with care and sincerity, adhere to the employer’s directions and supervision, and maintain work hours. Preserving the employer’s secrets and not divulging them to others, while prohibiting him from working for his own account or for others during the validity of the employment contract or after its expiration, in accordance with what is required by the relevant regulations.
