Operation Gallant Knight (3) opens the Emirates Medical Center to serve patients in Mawasi Khan Yunis

GAZA, 14 December, 2017 (WAM) – Operation Gallant Knight 3 opened the Emirates Medical Center in the city of Khan Yunis, south of the Gaza Strip, in a humanitarian step aimed at strengthening the health sector, supporting the health system, and providing urgent treatment services that contribute to improving the level of medical care in the Strip.

The center includes multiple specialized departments and provides comprehensive medical services to patients and injured, including primary health care and dealing with emergency cases.

Ali Al Shehhi, Head of the UAE Mission for Operation Gallant Knight (3), confirmed that the opening of the medical center comes within the UAE’s efforts to support the health sector and alleviate the suffering of the residents of the Strip, stressing the UAE’s support for the Gaza Strip with all humanitarian needs.

As valued by Dr. Muhammad Rabie, Vice Chairman of the Committee to Support Operation Gallant Knight (3), highlighted the UAE’s efforts to support the health sector and provide all assistance to the residents of the Gaza Strip, under the generous directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, “may God protect him.”

Dr. said. Sameh Hamid, Director of the Emirates Medical Center: “The center is qualified to receive emergency cases from patients and those in need of primary medical care, with specialized departments and a pharmacy to provide appropriate treatment.”

Heba Al-Najjar, the Global Health Coordinator in the Gaza Strip, praised the efforts of the UAE and its continued contribution to supporting the health system since the beginning of the events in Gaza. Since the beginning of the crisis, it has not hesitated to establish the Emirati field hospital, and has always been at the side of the Palestinian people, and has provided support to all hospitals in the Strip, which has contributed to strengthening the health system’s ability to face challenges and provide care for patients.

The opening of the Emirates Medical Center comes within the ongoing UAE medical support, which includes running medical convoys, providing ambulances, medicines, and medical supplies, which are provided by Operation Gallant Knight 3 with the aim of enhancing the quality of health services provided to the residents of the Gaza Strip.

This effort is an extension of the work of the Emirati Field Hospital, which continues to support the health sector and relieve pressure on medical facilities, thus contributing to improving the level of health care provided to patients and injured.
