ABU DHABI, 15 DECEMBER WAM / Abu Dhabi Ports Group announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding with the Kuwait Ports Corporation, the main developer and manager of several commercial ports and logistics areas in the State of Kuwait, to discuss ways of cooperation in developing and operating container operations in the Corporation’s Shuaiba Port.
The signing ceremony of the memorandum of understanding, which took place in the capital, Kuwait, was witnessed by Her Excellency Dr. Noura Al-Mishaan, Minister of Public Works of the State of Kuwait. His Excellency Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of Foreign Trade. The memorandum was signed by His Excellency Sheikh Khaled Salem Al-Sabah, Director General of the Kuwait Ports Authority; and Captain Mohammed Juma Al Shamsi, Managing Director and CEO of Abu Dhabi Ports Group.
Under the memorandum, Abu Dhabi Ports Group will prepare the necessary technical, environmental and financial studies for the project in accordance with international specifications and standards approved by both sides, including the necessary infrastructure requirements for the project. In turn, the Kuwait Ports Corporation will determine the project area, cooperate and provide the necessary support to the Abu Dhabi Ports Group to complete the necessary studies and for the group to obtain all necessary licenses and approvals to implement the project from all relevant Kuwaiti authorities.
His Excellency Sheikh Khaled Salem Al-Sabah, Director General of the Kuwait Ports Corporation, said: “The memorandum comes within the framework of the Kuwait Ports Corporation’s keenness to enhance cooperation with Abu Dhabi Ports Group in the maritime transport and ports sector, and to encourage investments and intra-economic cooperation on the basis of common interests and mutual benefit. We are pleased to work with Abu Dhabi Ports Group, the leading global enabler of trade, industry and logistics services, in the Shuaiba Port development project, which is operating the container terminal and its berths. We are certain that cooperation It will contribute to enhancing the port’s capabilities and enabling it to support trade and maritime transport in the State of Kuwait.”
For his part, Captain Mohammed Juma Al Shamsi said: “We are happy with this cooperation, which represents an extension of the close partnership between Abu Dhabi Ports Group and the leading institutions in the sisterly State of Kuwait, represented by the Kuwait Ports Corporation.
