" Emirates Writers and Writers Union" Discusses preparations for the Gulf Cultural Forum in its fifth session

Sharjah, December 15 / WAM / The Board of Directors of the Emirates Writers and Writers Union held its regular meeting the day before yesterday, at the headquarters of the Sharjah Book Authority, headed by Dr. Sultan Al Amimi, Chairman of the Board of Directors, and in the presence of members of the Council, during which a number of topics on the agenda that serve the cultural march of the Union and enhance its local, Gulf and Arab presence were discussed and discussed.
He also discussed the ongoing preparations for the Emirates Writers and Writers Union to host the fifth session of the Gulf Cultural Forum, which is scheduled to be held from March 28 to 30, 2026, under the title “Autobiographical and Otherworldly Literature in the Gulf (Reality and Challenges).” The Federation’s hosting of the forum comes after the Kingdom of Bahrain hosted the fourth session in February of this year.
The members of the Board of Directors discussed preparations for the launch of the seventeenth session of the Ghanem Ghobash Short Story Award, which is considered one of the most prominent literary awards sponsored by the Union in support of narrative creativity and encouraging distinguished literary voices.
The meeting also touched on its participation in a number of upcoming Arab cultural exhibitions, including the Cairo International Book Fair and the Muscat International Book Fair, within the framework of the Union’s keenness to strengthen its Arab presence, introduce its members’ cultural production and diverse publications, and expand the horizons of cultural cooperation with Arab literary institutions.
Regarding the Union’s hosting of the Gulf Cultural Forum in its fifth session, Sheikha Al Jabri, Vice President of the Union and Secretary General of the Fifth Gulf Forum, confirmed that the UAE’s hosting of this session, through the Writers Union, represents an extension of its pioneering role in supporting joint Gulf cultural work, noting that the Forum seeks to open new horizons for critical and cognitive dialogue on autobiographical and heterosexual literature, shed light on pioneering Gulf experiences, and discuss the current challenges facing this literary genre. She added that the fifth session will witness the participation of an elite group of writers, researchers and critics from the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, thus enhancing the value of the forum as an effective cultural platform for meeting and exchanging experiences.
The forum aims to support joint cultural efforts between the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, enrich the Gulf cultural scene, enhance communication and intellectual openness, and strengthen ties between writers and intellectuals in the Arab Gulf countries.
