Egypt sets a Guinness world record: Sokhna Port is the deepest port basin on land

Egypt has recorded a new global achievement in the field of maritime infrastructure, as Sokhna Port obtained a Guinness World Records certificate as the deepest man-made port basin created on land, with a record depth of 19 metres.

 

 

 

 

The team, Engineer Kamel Al-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, received the prestigious international certificate.

 

This achievement is evidence of the magnitude of the project and the superior engineering capabilities that were employed in developing the port, which strengthens Egypt’s position as a regional logistics and commercial center. And global.

 

The Information and Decision Support Center of the Council of Ministers (IDSC) had published this achievement on its official page on the social networking site Facebook, attaching to it an infographic detailing the record.

 

This development contributes to enabling Sokhna Port to receive the largest and most modern giant container ships in the world, which supports commercial movement in the Suez Canal Economic Zone and increases the competitiveness of the ports. Egyptian.
