European leaders support the international resolution to establish a “peace council and stability force” in Gaza

At the conclusion of the summit of heads of state and government of the twenty-seven EU countries in Brussels, the European Council adopted comprehensive conclusions related to the Middle East, European defense and security, the multi-annual financial framework, enlargement, reforms, migration and other items.
The summit welcomed UN Security Council Resolution No. 2803 calling for the establishment of a peace council and a temporary international stability force within the framework of the plan to end the conflict in Gaza.
The European leaders stressed the need to implement the international resolution in full and ensure permanent security stability in Gaza, renewing the European Union’s commitment to the two-state solution and international law, with readiness to strengthen the role of the Union’s missions in Rafah and the Palestinian territories and to participate in civil-military coordination mechanisms, calling for the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza quickly and without obstacles, empowering the United Nations and humanitarian organizations, and allowing the entry of basic materials, in addition to supporting the reconstruction of Gaza and economic recovery, and supporting the Palestinian Authority and its reform program.
Regarding Lebanon, they stressed reducing escalation, supporting stability and reconstruction, the state’s monopoly on weapons, the role of UNIFIL, and condemning the attacks on it.
Regarding Syria, the European leaders renewed their support for a comprehensive peaceful transition, protecting the rights of all Syrians, rejecting foreign interference, and respecting the country’s unity.
