A new injury for Christensen keeps him away from Barcelona for a long time

Danish defender Andreas Christensen will be absent from the ranks of his team, Barcelona, which leads the Spanish Football League, for several months after he was diagnosed with a torn knee ligament on Sunday.
Barcelona said in a statement: “Christensen suffers from a partial tear in the anterior cruciate ligament of the left knee as a result of an unsuccessful rotation of the knee during a training session on Saturday.”
The Catalan club added that Christensen will undergo conservative treatment (without surgery), while Spanish media reported that he will be absent for four months.
The 29-year-old centre-back is expected to miss the 2026 World Cup qualifying play-off matches with the Denmark national team against North Macedonia in March.
Christensen joined Barcelona from Chelsea in 2022, and suffered from injuries throughout his time with the team. The Danish defender’s contract at Camp Nou expires in June 2026.
