Michelle Obama reveals the most difficult moments of raising her two daughters

Former US First Lady, Michelle Obama, revealed that she was not always the patient mother who appeared to the public, stressing that she had moments when she felt frustrated and lost her temper in front of her daughters, Malia and Sasha, who are currently 27 years old and 24 years old, respectively.

Michelle (61 years old) mentioned this fact in the last episode of her podcast “IMO,” which she presents with her brother Craig Robinson, where she talked about the challenges of raising children and the balance between family life and other commitments.

During the conversation with guest Henry Winkler, Michelle recalled the stages of raising her two daughters, noting that it was particularly difficult when her husband, former President Barack Obama, was away from home due to his preoccupation with work and presidential responsibilities.

Michelle said: “I tell this story a lot about Malia and Sasha. When Malia was seven years old and Sasha was three years old, and my husband was traveling, I was trying all the time to force the two girls to go to sleep.”

Although she described her daughters as “wonderful children,” Michelle admitted that there was one night in particular that was full of challenges, as they were very naughty and did not respond to her instructions, stressing: “I was trying all the time to persuade them to go to the shower, but they did not listen to me.”

In a moment of extreme frustration, Michelle said angrily to her daughters: “Well, no one listens to me or cares about what I say. I’m tired of being your mother.” She added that this moment gave her a better understanding of the difference in her two daughters’ personalities.

Michelle continued: “Malia, my eldest daughter, said to me: (No, mother, as you know, I cannot do this without you). I felt satisfied at that time. This is what I wanted her to realize, that she needed me. As for Sasha, she sat on the stairs watching everything, then she picked up her blanket and went back to watching TV as if she was saying: (Thank God).”

Michelle concluded her speech by referring to Sasha’s independent personality, saying: “My youngest daughter wants to learn everything on her own. We tell her what she should do, but she wants to try and discover everything on her own.”
