China imposes sanctions on American individuals and companies

The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said yesterday that it had imposed sanctions targeting 10 individuals and 20 American companies working in the defense field, including the Boeing branch in St. Louis, due to arms sales to Taiwan. The ministry stated that any assets owned by these companies and individuals in China will be frozen, and local organizations and individuals will be prevented from dealing with them under these measures. She added that individuals on the sanctions list are also prohibited from entering China. A spokeswoman for the Chinese Ministry of Commerce announced, the day before yesterday, that Beijing is actively working to promote and facilitate law-compliant trade, in response to a question about whether China will ease restrictions on exports of rare earth metals to the United States.
