China pledges to support Cambodian-Thai relations

China’s Foreign Minister, Wang Yi, said that his country will always be a “mediator” in Cambodian-Thai relations, and that it is ready to provide necessary assistance and support.

He added, in a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, that the ceasefire agreement had been reached “with painstaking effort,” which does not allow for delaying or abandoning it midway, according to Bloomberg News Agency, and China believes that Cambodian-Thai relations will return to the right track soon.

The press statement, issued after the meeting of the foreign ministers of China, Cambodia and Thailand in China’s Yunnan province, said that Cambodia and Thailand will gradually support the ceasefire and restore bilateral communication.
