What did Hossam Hassan say about Mohamed Salah before the Benin match in the African Cup?

Egyptian national football team coach Hossam Hassan expressed his hope on Sunday in Agadir that the captain and English Liverpool star Mohamed Salah would succeed in leading the Pharaohs to the African Cup of Nations title in Morocco.
Hassan said in a press conference before confronting Benin tomorrow, Monday (20:00 UAE time) in the eighth-final, in response to Salah’s approach to breaking his record as the Pharaohs’ all-time top scorer: “Salah is one of the best players in the world over the last 10 years. He is capable of breaking records, and I hope that he will help the Egyptian national team win the championship in the end.”
Salah scored a decisive double in the current edition: the winning goal against Zimbabwe (2-1) in the dead time in the first round, and the winning goal from a penalty kick against South Africa in the second, raising his score to 65 goals and now he is only 3 goals away from surpassing Hossam Hassan’s number.
The Pharaohs coach confirmed that his country is ready to face Benin, which he described as the final of the tournament for him, explaining, “Our goal now is to reach the quarter-finals. We have entered the most important time for Egypt’s ambitions towards the African Cup of Nations title.”
He continued, “In the knockout stages, each match is a championship in itself. For me, the Benin match is the final of the Nations Cup, and I informed the players of that. There are no easy teams in the tournament, and I followed all the teams that developed strongly and have players in the best European clubs.”
Regarding Benin, he said: “It will be a very difficult match, and we respect all of our competitors because our goal is the title. All respect and appreciation to the Benin national team, which did not reach the round of 16 by chance, and we also followed its distinguished journey in the World Cup qualifiers. But the Egyptian national team is the record holder by winning 7 African Cup of Nations championships. We know their strengths and weaknesses and we hope to present a strong match and reach the next round.”
Hossam considered that the rest period that extended for a week since the match with Angola in the final third round was a good thing. He said, “We had enough time to rest after deciding the qualification against South Africa, and we succeeded in undergoing recovery and reactivating all the players. We will learn about the condition of all the players and their readiness for the match in today’s training.”
For his part, national team winger Mahmoud Hassan “Trezeguet” said: “The Benin national team is strong and has qualified for this round on merit. It will be a very strong match and we are ready for it.”
The Al-Ahly player added, “Our coach Hossam Hassan and the technical staff focus in training on how to create opportunities, and I believe that we have never created this many opportunities before. We must focus well and not be complacent in the upcoming matches. Hossam told us that every match now is a final and we cannot be complacent or neglect any opportunity.”
He concluded, “There is no preference for one player over another in the Egyptian national team. We are all here with one goal, which is to win the title.”
