Blockchain opens new horizons for financing content creators

Dubai, January 10 / WAM / Vera Slivinska, Head of Global Business Development at AIR Media-Tech, discussed the fundamental transformations taking place in the content creation economy, and the role of blockchain technologies in opening new horizons for financing creators and transforming their revenues into investable assets.
This came during a session entitled “How Blockchain and Tokens Are Reshaping the Rules for Content Creators’ Investments” within the activities of the fourth edition of the One Billion Followers Summit.
Slivinska said that the content creators’ economy, whose value is currently estimated at about $250 billion, is likely to grow to $500 billion by 2027, considering that encoding a limited part of this market via blockchain is sufficient to create a new investment sector based on real returns, redrawing the relationship between creators, the public, and capital.
She emphasized that content makers represent real investment assets, given the transparency of their performance and the possibility of measuring their growth on a daily basis through the number of views, subscribers, and revenues.
She pointed out that the biggest transformation currently in the world of blockchain revolves around encoding real assets linked to actual cash flows, which today includes sectors such as real estate and bonds, and now extends to the economy of content makers.
She gave an example of Dubai’s experience in tokenizing real estate, where investors from dozens of countries were able to own small shares in major real estate, considering that the same model is applicable to YouTube channels and content makers’ accounts, by converting a portion of their future revenues into tradable digital tokens.
She talked about new investment platforms that allow content makers to raise capital in advance by tokenizing a portion of their future revenues, while retaining full ownership of their channels, in exchange for granting investors tokens backed by reliable revenues whose returns are distributed on a monthly basis.
