“The Godfather of Trump” Steve Bannon is planning to run in the presidential elections in 2028

American media reports revealed that Steve Bannon, the former White House strategic advisor and one of the most prominent ideologues of the populist right, has begun actual, unannounced moves to lay the necessary foundations for running in the 2028 US presidential elections.
The American website Axios reported, citing informed sources, that Bannon seeks, through this step, to “shape the political debate” and put pressure on Republican candidates to adopt the “America First” agenda in its most extreme form.
According to sources, Bannon’s vision is based on an isolationist (non-interventionist) foreign policy, economic populism, and open confrontation with major technology companies (Big Tech).
In an accurate description of his orientations, the report quoted former Republican Representative Matt Gaetz as saying: “Bannon’s campaign will be a mixture that combines the isolationist foreign policy of Rand Paul with the populist tax policies of Elizabeth Warren.”
“Third Term” maneuver
Despite leaks about his preparations, Bannon publicly denied his intention to run, describing the reports as “nonsense.” He stressed that his current focus is entirely on supporting President Donald Trump to obtain a “third presidential term,” in clear defiance of the Twenty-Second Amendment to the US Constitution, which prohibits this. Bannon stated, “We will not have a country if we do not get every ounce of fight from President Trump… We can bypass the 22nd Amendment, and this is exactly what I intend to do,” noting his cooperation with lawyer Alan Dershowitz to issue a book that includes a legal conclusion of this proposal.
Observers believe that Bannon’s promotion of this “constitutionally impossible” idea may be a tactical maneuver to present himself as the “only legitimate heir” to Trumpism when it is confirmed that Trump will not be able to run again.
Field movements and pressures
The report monitored practical steps that Bannon began taking behind the scenes, including:
Campaign Infrastructure: Study of Establishing a Political Action Committee (PAC) to finance allies in the midterm elections, and to begin attracting cadres to work with him.
Focus on rules: Moving the headquarters of his famous programWar Room“To Texas during February to focus on the primaries there.
An alternative strategy: Plan an unconventional campaign run from digital broadcast studios, bypassing classic caucuses in states like Iowa and New Hampshire.
In parallel with these moves, Bannon began directing harsh criticism at potential rivals within the Republican Party, such as Vice President J.D. Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Senator Ted Cruz, attacking their positions toward Israel and the regulation of technology and artificial intelligence, with the aim of forcing them to his hard-line political path.
