“Dubai Beach” with the “Godolphin” logo, champion of “Cape Verde” in “Meydan”

The mare “Dubai Beach”, owned by the “Godolphin” team and under the supervision of international trainer Saeed bin Suroor, was crowned champion of the “Cape Verde” race for fillies and mares (Second Category – Group 2), which was held the day before yesterday, within the seventh and main heat of the eighth evening ceremony of the “Dubai Racing Carnival” season, organized by the Dubai Horse Racing Club at the international “Meydan” track.
The evening witnessed the holding of 10 rounds, sponsored by Azizi Real Estate Development, with total prizes amounting to 2.96 million dirhams, during which 135 elite local and international horses competed.
Dubai Beach gave the Godolphin team its twelfth historic title in the Cape Verde Championship, and also scored the sixth star for coach Saeed bin Suroor in this tournament, the first edition of which was launched in 2004.
The evening began with the opening round, “Azizi Creek Views”, allocated to horses in the “Parity” category, over a distance of 1,400 meters on grass, with prizes amounting to 175,000 dirhams, where the title went to the horse “Impressive Act”, owned by the “Sooted and Butted Racing Syndicate”, under the supervision of coach Bobat Simar and led by jockey Richard Mullen.
The excitement continued in the main half, with a total prize pool of 850,000 dirhams, and jockey Kieran Shomark succeeded in leading the mare “Dubai Beach” to cross the finish line over a distance of 1,600 grass meters in first place, with a time of one minute, 35 seconds and 67 hundredths of a second, 0.22 lengths ahead of the second-placed “Code Pro Co”, owned by the “Valor International” team under the supervision of coach Jerome Renner and led by jockey Adri De Vries, while she finished third. “Dubai Treasure”, also owned by “Godolphin”, under the supervision of Saeed bin Suroor and led by jockey Ray Dawson.
In the rest of the rounds, the mare “Jamra SP”, owned by Abdullah Omar Al-Mushaykhi, under the supervision of trainer Ibrahim Al-Hadrami and led by the jockey Hamad Al-Busaidi, won the title of the second half, “Azizi Rivera”, allocated to purebred Arabian horses (parity category) for a distance of 1,200 meters of sand, with prizes of 120 thousand dirhams.
The horse “English Oak” presented the “Wathanan Racing” team with the title of the third race, “Azizi Tower”, with prizes of 250 thousand dirhams, which is allocated to purebred hybrid horses (parity category), after the jockey James Doyle led him to victory in the 1600-meter grass race.
“Godolphin” horses returned to their brilliance when the horse “Bikali”, under the supervision of Charlie Appleby and led by jockey William Buick, won the title of the fourth race, “Azizi Reef”, for a distance of 1,400 meters on grass, with prizes of 175 thousand dirhams.
The fifth round, “Azizi Milan”, with a prize pool of 190,000 dirhams and allocated to par horses over a distance of 2,200 sandy meters, witnessed the participation of 16 horses, during which the horse “Antrim” for “Al-Laith Racing”, under the supervision of coach Carl Burke and led by jockey Sam James, was able to win the title.
In the sixth race, “Azizi Venice,” for a distance of 1,200 meters on grass, with prizes of 250,000 dirhams, the horse “Chasing” was crowned with the slogan of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, under the supervision of trainer Michael Costa and led by jockey Ray Dawson.
The ninth round, “Azizi Mina,” was designated for par horses over a distance of 1,600 meters on grass, with prizes of 250,000 dirhams, with the participation of 14 horses. The win went to the horse “Folk Festival” with the logo of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, under the supervision of coach Salem bin Ghadeer and led by jockey Bernardo Pinheiro.
The evening concluded with the “Fazirabad Handicap” race in the tenth round, designated for par horses, over a distance of 2,410 meters on grass, with prizes of 300,000 dirhams, where the horse “French Doc,” owned by the “Wathnan Racing” team, was crowned champion, under the supervision of coach Hamad Al-Juhani and led by jockey James Doyle.
“Lioness” champion of the “Cocoa Beach Stakes”
The filly “Labwa”, owned by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, under the supervision of trainer Salem bin Ghadeer, clinched the title of the “Cocoa Beach Stakes” race, which was held in the eighth round and allocated to fillies, with a total prize money of 400 thousand dirhams, after the jockey Bernardo Pinheiro led her to win the 1600 meter sand race with a time of one minute, 39 seconds and 66 parts of a second, with a difference of 0.1 length from The second place finisher is the filly “Tajarid” for the “Sky Racing” team.
