Mistakes and prayers “individual and collective” are the reason for the Asian farewell

Al-Wasl player, Nicolas Jimenez, admitted that his team did not appear in the way he had hoped for during the confrontation with Al-Nassr Saudi Arabia in the “AFC Champions League 2”, yesterday, considering that the 0-4 loss was the result of individual and collective mistakes committed by the players.

Jimenez said in press statements after the match: “Al-Nasr succeeded in exploiting cross balls perfectly, which resulted in scoring more than one goal through them, which contributed to settling the confrontation early.”

He added: “We needed more focus and avoid such mistakes, especially against a team that has elements capable of investing half-chances and turning them into goals.”

He pointed out that the current stage requires a comprehensive review of the mistakes made by the team, with the need to deal with them calmly to avoid their recurrence in the future, and to ensure that Al Wasl will appear better in the next season.

Al-Wasl had bid farewell to the AFC Champions League 2 after paying the price for the decisions of its Portuguese coach, Rui Vitoria, who chose a cautious defensive approach from the beginning, with a clear decline in offensive options, and keeping the duo Ali Saleh and Fabio Lima on the bench, which gave Al-Nasr an early field advantage through which it imposed its rhythm on the course of the match.

The Saudi team took advantage of this advantage quickly, opening the scoring through Cristiano Ronaldo, before Iñigo Martinez and Abdul-Ilah Al-Omari added the second and third goals within the first 26 minutes, so Al-Nasr practically put the match under its complete control from an early stage.

Despite trailing by three, Al-Wasl showed an offensive response in the 30th minute, when it was relatively free and began to threaten Al-Nasr’s goal, and was close to reducing the difference through a dangerous attempt from Brian Palacios, which ended with a low shot that passed alongside the post.

At the beginning of the second half, Al-Wasl repeated its offensive attempts and succeeded in reaching the opponent’s areas on more than one occasion, but it was unable to capitalize on the available opportunities, in light of the lack of effectiveness in front of the goal.

Al Wasl’s attacking style declined in the middle of this half, returning to a defensive contraction without clear justification, which allowed the Saudi team to add the fourth goal through Sadio Mane nine minutes before the end, leaving the “Emperor” to leave the match with a heavy loss that even the most pessimistic fans did not expect with this result.
