A young man burns a statue of Ronaldo in Madeira

A person set fire to a statue of the Portuguese star, Cristiano Ronaldo, on his island, Mother Madeira, in a strange incident that caused widespread uproar on social media.

The man posted footage of his controversial act on the Internet, while the police continued their search for him.

The video showed a young man filming himself pouring a flammable substance on the bronze copy of Ronaldo, before lighting it with a lighter.

As the fire ignited and approached the young man himself, before he moved away from it, he continued to perform a dance to the tune of loud rap music, issued from a speaker he had brought with him.
