At a cost exceeding 60 million dirhams.. 1.5 million beneficiaries of the Red Crescent’s Ramadan programs inside and outside the country

ABU DHABI, 22nd JANUARY / WAM / The Emirates Red Crescent Authority announced that more than 1.5 million people within the UAE and in 44 countries around the world are benefiting from its Ramadan programs this year, which include Ramadan food, breaking the fast, breaking the fast, Zakat al-Fitr, and Eid clothing, at an estimated cost exceeding 60 million dirhams, as part of the Authority’s ongoing efforts to mitigate the repercussions of the humanitarian situation in a number of countries.

The Authority launched its seasonal Ramadan campaign for this year under the slogan “Ramadan…Continuous Giving,” during the press conference it held today at its headquarters in Abu Dhabi, in which the details of the campaign were reviewed, which this year is more comprehensive and extensive, keeping pace with the quantitative and qualitative expansion of the Authority’s humanitarian programs and charitable projects inside and outside the country.

His Excellency Ahmed Sari Al Mazrouei, Secretary-General of the Emirates Red Crescent Authority, confirmed in his speech during the conference that this year’s Ramadan campaign is part of the Authority’s initiatives in the “Year of the Family.”

He said that the Authority’s programs and humanitarian and development activities are witnessing continuous growth inside and outside the country, under the guidance and follow-up of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in the Al Dhafra Region and Chairman of the Authority, noting that the increase in allocations for this year’s Ramadan campaign was reflected in expanding the scope of benefit locally and internationally, and enhancing the sustainable humanitarian impact.

He added that the campaign’s activities aim to strengthen bridges of communication with the generous UAE community, and expand areas of partnership with various sectors, in support of the National Authority’s mission to expand the umbrella of beneficiaries and provide greater care for the targeted segments.

He explained that the campaign is being launched under complex humanitarian circumstances as a result of the crises and natural disasters that many countries are witnessing, which requires concerted humanitarian efforts and joint work to alleviate the impact of these crises on the most needy groups.

The Secretary-General appreciated the great role of the campaign’s partners from government and private agencies and national media, for the continuous support they provide to the Red Crescent’s humanitarian mission.

The Authority’s statement stated that about 395,000 beneficiaries within the country are benefiting from Ramadan programs this year, with a total value exceeding 32.5 million dirhams, as part of an integrated package of Ramadan programs targeting the families and individuals most in need in the various emirates of the country.

Externally, the Authority explained that more than one million beneficiaries in 44 countries on four continents benefit from the programs of the holy month of Ramadan for the year 1447 AH, at a cost of about 27.5 million dirhams, as part of various humanitarian interventions that include food support, cash aid, clothing, and seasonal aid, with priority given to countries facing major humanitarian challenges.

She pointed out that hundreds of sites have been allocated to collect donations in various emirates of the country, in addition to donating through the Authority’s centers, the website, the smartphone application, bank deposits, text messages, and the toll-free number, in addition to in-kind donation sites.

The Authority confirmed that the Ramadan campaign represents an extension of the UAE’s established approach to humanitarian giving, and a practical translation of the values ​​of solidarity and solidarity that characterize Emirati society.
