70 thousand dirhams in disciplinary fines in the league… included only 3 clubs

Statistics monitored by Emirates Today from the records of the Football Association revealed that the value of the financial fines imposed on the ADNOC Professional Football League clubs in the current football season 2025-2026, until the 13th round of the competition, amounted to only 70 thousand dirhams, as a significant decline was observed in the size of disciplinary financial fines against the clubs, compared to previous seasons, which witnessed high fines, as the value of the fines last season, until the 14th round, amounted to about 220 thousand dirhams.
These fines included only three clubs: Al-Sharjah, Shabab Al-Ahly and Al-Bataeh, out of 14 clubs, while the records of 11 clubs were free of any disciplinary penalties, namely: Al-Ain, Al-Wahda, Al-Wasl, Al-Jazira, Al-Nasr, Bani Yas, Al-Dhafra, Kalba, Ajman, Khor Fakkan, and Dibba.
Sharjah Club topped the list of disciplinary fines amounting to 50,000 dirhams, as the team’s coach, Serbian “Al-Maqal” Milos, was fined 20,000 dirhams and banned from accompanying the team in one match, due to verbal abuse at the match referee. The club was also fined 30,000 dirhams for its players receiving six cards in one match, while Shabab Al-Ahly Club was fined 10,000 dirhams because its fans verbally abused one of the opposing team’s players. Al-Bataeh Club’s goalkeeper, Ibrahim Issa, was also punished with a warning and fined 10,000 dirhams, in addition to repair costs, for damaging club property.
For his part, Dr. Salim Al Shamsi, former Chairman of the Player Status and Transfer Committee in the Football Association, told Emirates Al-Youm, commenting on the noticeable decline in financial disciplinary fines in the ADNOC Professional League this season, compared to previous seasons: “This matter came as a result of the clubs’ commitment to implementing the laws and regulations, in addition to their keenness to raise awareness and educate their players in this regard, in addition to the deterrent disciplinary penalties applied by the Disciplinary Committee, especially after the financial penalties became more effective than administrative penalties.”
Al Shamsi described the decline in disciplinary fines as a positive thing, whether for clubs or players, stressing that “this contributes significantly to reducing unjustified disciplinary violations, expecting that next season will witness a greater decline in the value of financial fines.”
Al Shamsi added: “The league has begun to reap the benefits of deterrent material penalties, which have become greater than administrative penalties, as the club and the player were previously harmed by administrative penalties, especially the suspension of players, but this matter changed after the implementation of the new system based on deterrent financial fines.”
Al Shamsi hoped that the coming seasons in the UAE League would be free of any disciplinary penalties, whether financial or administrative, against clubs and players.
