المملكة: Education from Oman: The teacher is the pillar of educational transformation and artificial intelligence is an irreplaceable supportive tool

The teacher, during her participation in the International Conference on the Teaching Profession hosted by the Sultanate of Oman.

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education for General Education, Dr. Hassan Kharmi, reviewed the Kingdom’s experience in developing the teaching profession and educational leadership, indicating that the national educational system is based on building sustainable education that enhances the quality of outcomes and keeps pace with rapid technological transformations, while preserving the pivotal role of the teacher in any successful educational transformation.

The experience. Saudi Arabia

He explained that the Saudi experience pays special attention to consolidating basic skills among students and mastering them, promoting positive values and behavior, and developing psychological toughness, in addition to supporting self-problem-solving skills, and developing social and emotional intelligence, as educational priorities that extend from kindergarten until the age of eighteen.

He pointed out that these trends contribute to preparing a generation capable of self-learning and acquiring flexible skills that are compatible with social, economic, and job changes.

Improving learning outcomes

The conference stressed in its main topics that the teacher represents the cornerstone in improving learning outcomes and achieving educational sustainability, and that employing artificial intelligence must take place within clear frameworks that support the teacher and enrich his educational experience, without detracting from his humanitarian and educational role.

The International Conference on the Teaching Profession, which was held under the slogan “Sustainable Education in the Age of Artificial Intelligence,” recommended developing educational policies. Sustainable national development in line with relevant international frameworks, enhancing the use of artificial intelligence to improve learning outcomes, supporting inclusion and equity, and building flexible educational systems capable of withstanding and adapting to future crises.
