Today.. registration in public schools opens for the academic year 2026-2027

The Ministry of Education announced the opening of registration in government schools for the academic year 2026-2027 for citizens and those in their equivalent, starting today until the sixth of next March, provided that registration is opened only once during the specified period.
The Ministry stressed that the commitment to register within the specified period represents a pivotal step to ensure the readiness of schools with the start of the academic year, as it allows it to plan early to distribute students to schools according to geographical scopes, provide educational personnel, and secure textbooks and school transportation services efficiently, in a way that enhances the quality of the educational start for students from the first day.
The Ministry noted that the registration of students for the next academic year will be in accordance with the approved update on the admission age policy, as children born from January 1, 2022 to December 31, 2022 who have completed four years of age on December 31 of the year of enrollment will be accepted in the first kindergarten, and children born from January 1, 2021 to December 31, 2021, who have completed five years of age on December 31 of the year of enrollment, will be accepted in the second kindergarten. In the first grade, students born from January 1, 2020 to December 31, 2020, who turned six years old on December 31 of the year of enrollment.
As for children who did not meet the requirements for registration in the academic year 2025-2026, due to their date of birth between September 1 and December 31, 2021, the guardian will have the option of registering them in the first kindergarten or the second kindergarten.
The Ministry explained that registration includes four categories of students from kindergarten to grade 12, including new students, students transferring from private schools or institutes to government schools, as well as students coming from schools outside the country, and students transferring from government schools to government schools.
The Ministry noted that parents can submit registration requests to enroll in the next academic year through the official website of the Ministry of Education or through the smart application UAE MOE, stressing the necessity of updating the personal data linked to the digital identity of the guardian (guardian) according to marital status, to ensure that registration procedures are completed smoothly, and to choose the school transportation service within the registration application during the specified period to ensure its availability at the beginning of the academic year.
The Ministry of Education called on parents to review the comprehensive guide for registering students in government schools for the academic year 2026-2027, which clarifies the approved standards and requirements for accepting the registration of students in various categories, in addition to the education paths provided by the Ministry, including the general and advanced tracks, and the standards for accepting students of people of determination, ensuring their integration into the educational environment in accordance with best practices, through the Ministry’s official website.
The Ministry of Education announced that it will meet five categories of parents today to review the details of the controls and mechanisms for registration in government schools for the next academic year 2026-2027, as part of an introductory meeting organized by the Ministry as part of its preparations for the start of registration.
The target groups, according to a circular from the Ministry of Education seen by Emirates Today, include parents of citizens, children of female citizens, children of Gulf Cooperation Council countries, children of diplomats, and decree holders.
The Ministry explained that the meeting coincides with the opening of registration and the launch of the “Request for Registration and Admission of a Student in Government Schools” service for the academic year 2026-2027, as part of its efforts to develop educational services, facilitate electronic registration procedures, and reduce the volume of inquiries and observations, which contributes to ensuring the smoothness and accuracy of procedures.
The Ministry announced, through its circular, the organization of a virtual introductory workshop directed to parents, which will be held remotely (online) today at 12 noon, and aims to introduce all parents to the service of requesting, registering and accepting students in government schools, and explaining its steps and mechanisms in a clear and direct manner.
The Ministry stated that the workshop will focus on the registration system approved in government schools for the next academic year, enabling parents to be aware of all the details.
The meeting agenda includes a number of main topics, most notably the importance of early registration, explaining the registration procedures via the website, in addition to clarifying the conditions and requirements necessary to complete the registration and admission process in government schools.
The Ministry invited parents to register and participate in the meeting via the designated nomination link, and also provided a direct link to attend the workshop and live broadcast, stressing that this step comes within the framework of strengthening the partnership with parents, and enabling them to directly view the registration mechanisms.
